A View of Google Earth

We live in an age that is more documented than any other, especially in visual images.

Google Earth is a powerful tool that is now in daily use, revealing patterns in the natural world and man-made structures that the majority o people would otherwise never see.

 

We use it for research- to get an overview (though not 100% accurate or up to date) of the shape and layout of places- how they relate to their surroundings: other built structures, developed areas and natural features. At a glance, it is possible to see distances and qualities.

This pays into our evidence-based approach: to be as informed as possible when it is impractical to make a site visit because of distance or time; or to prepare before making a site visit.
